• I’ve noticed a breach in my network, and while checking, macOS automatically downloaded and installed an update (Ventura 13.4) on my macbook. Only a restart finishes this update.
That would appear to be Normal Process if all the Setting in Software Update Applet were enabled
Given this, I have a few questions:
how can I know this update is genuinely?
Perhaps if the user would provide a Screen Shot from " About this Mac "
Be sure Not to Included the Serial Number
Click on the Wording for Ventura 13.4
It should expand and proved the Build Number
Example : macOS 13.3.1a - was Build Number ( 22E772610a )
• I have two profiles on my MacBook, a normal user and an admin user. I was logged on with the normal user. Is it normal that the update bypassed the admin approval?
No, not normal but has seen rare instances where it has been reported to have happened.
Though, the some users have not been about to provide supporting evidence of this having occurred.
• can I revert this update? I’ve postponed it, and shutdown my macbook.
Once the Ventura 13.4 has started the Installation, even by shutting down the computer, once it is started back up, it will commence all the changes that 13.4 has brought with it.
There is no stopping it AFAIK apart from Not Starting the computer at all.
Furthermore, I’ve disabled automatic updates and installation of it from now on. I prefer to update manually.
That is an option which is sole the choice of the user
Q - can I revert this update
A - Why Revert ?
