My iMac wont update!!

My late 2013 iMac is on OS X version 10.9.5 and all of the apps and icons are the really old ones. When I try to update it, it says there are no new updates and I think its because of how far behind it is. What should I do?

Back up your data, check the application compatibility table, click here, and then on the download link for a more-recent OS; your computer's maximum one is Catalina. They're full-version upgrades and won't appear in the updates list.

Catalina and above won't run 32-bit software; if you choose one of them, use Go64 as well.
