Transfer music "from" iPhone to new iMac

I had to replace my computer and bought a new iMac. I need to move my music over to the new iMac from my iPhone 12. When I try to sync it always wants to erase the phone with the computer and that's NOT what I want to do. Is there a "simple" way to do this without having to be terribly tech savvy? I'm hitting 70 but still work with Illustrator and Photoshop but gotta admit this music thing confuses me. Thanks for the help and patience with the "older" generation!!

You’ll want to copy your music files from the old Mac to the new. The migration assistant helps guide you when you set up your new Mac. Alternatively, you can copy over the library file and music files using an external drive. Syncing goes from the Mac to the iPhone
