iPhone 15 does not backup automatically

My iPhone 15 does not automatically backup at night with the backup button turned on. Does it have to be plugged in to automatically backup? So far I have an to manually back it up. My last manual backup was 48 hours ago. Frustrating.

My iPhones always backed up automatically, too, but the 15 does not. I got a message saying it hadn't been backed up for over two weeks. I don't have wifi, but I have the "backup over cellular" toggle on and it clearly says "when not connected to WiFi, use your cellurlar network to automatically back up to iCloud." I have unlimited data, so this is not a problem, and it always used to work before I got this phone, or at least 17.1.

Hey Frank300,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. That's a great question. To automatically back up to iCloud, you'll need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network and a power source as shown here: How to back up your iPhone or iPad with iCloud - Apple Support

Automatically back up with iCloud Backup

1. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and make sure that Back Up This [Device] is turned on.
2. Connect your device to a power source.
3. Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
4. Make sure that your device's screen is locked.
5. If you get an alert that you don't have enough iCloud storage space to complete the backup, follow the onscreen steps to buy more iCloud storage.

We hope this helps.

Take care!
