Apple Pencil Not Charging - How to fix?

Hello,

My Apple Pencil is not changing on my iPad, which is charged at 100%. I learned that it's bad for your Pencil to stay dead, I'm at 1% and not able to write with it. It attaches magnetically to the side of the iPad and charges for a couple seconds then no further charging. I've cleaned the iPad with no resolve. Can this be fixed?

I found this thread because I had the same issue of my pencil not being charged.

Theres a much easier way to fix this without having to do a hard reset.

  1. Go to Bluetooth settings.
  2. Click on the info button next to the pencil
  3. Press forget device
  4. Pair the iPad and pencil again

Your pencil will show as charging/charged again.

Same here, I’ve had Apple send me a new Apple Pencil, then they sent me a “new” iPad since the new Apple Pencil wouldn’t work. I’m a year and a half past that event and now my Apple Pencil stopped working again. I’m not sure why this is not a resolved issue by now.

I have a brand new Apple Pencil 2 and a brand new iPad Pro 13" M4. I can connect the Apple Pencil via bluetooth to the iPad, and I can charge it when I connect it to the iPad with the usb-c cable. However, it will not charge when connected magnetically to the side of the iPad. In any orientation or placement that has it adhere. I've tried the hard reset to no avail. Is this an issue with the pencil or the iPad? Is there a solution or do I have to replace one or both?
