An arrow inside a green shape keeps showing up on my screen near where my cursor is. It just started appearing and doesn't always show up. It almost looks like the arrow you see when you share your screen.

from your description, does it look like this?
if that is it, it indicates that your "caps lock" key is on.
Take a screenshot of the anomaly using (Shift+Command+4), as per > Take a screenshot - Apple Support
and then post back with the screenshot using the Image insertion tool on the bottom panel.
I feel I should add this tidbit for anyone else that stumbles across this discussion later on. my "caps lock" indicator, apparently as well as the OP's are green because my "accent colour" is set as green. the colour of the "caps lock" indicator would be different if you have a different colour as your "accent colour".
I highly recommend that Apple removes this feature in the next update. The green arrow causes freezing in SaleForce and Gmail, among other issues. This is significantly disruptive when trying to get work done.
