HomeKit Device Readings Not Updating
On Apple Home App, temperature readings from HomeKit devices (such as Eve Degree / Fibaro Flood) do not seem to update automatically as they should. I look for the readings on the Apple Home app and they rarely show their updated values. If I go first to the associated device makers app and open it the device readings are updated, and if then I open the Apple Home app the device readings are up to date there too.
I have new iPhones, the latest version of the software/firmware/apps. Device makers say their devices are operating properly. They said that devices should respond to automations based on actual readings even if the Home App is not showing the correct/current readings. (I don't know about that.) I had hoped that the big new Apple HomeKit/Home update would correct this. It has not. The devices are not Matter/Thread compatible, but that should not impact functionality for Apple Home. (Apple TV 4K acts as the hub.) As noted, the issue is across several HomeKit device manufacturers.
Apple is one of the biggest companies in the world, with the best of engineering capability and tech, yet this basic requirement to have device readings show their current values is not working right. I have provided feedback to Apple on several occasions about this, but no fix has been implemented.
Have others encountered this? Have others figured out ways to correct this? I hope that Apple can fix this basic functionality in the Home app for HomeKit devices.
Thanks,
iPhone SE, iOS 17
