Siri/Home app won't set thermostat to certain temperatures

I have a HomeKit enabled Honeywell Home Pro Series thermostat. I have no issues adjusting the temperature using the thermostat itself or its native Resideo app. The problem is when I ask Siri to set the temperature to 73 degrees F. Or if I open the Home app and try to adjust the temperature manually. The app lets me set the temperature to 73 degrees, but after a second, it will snap back to 74 degrees. This is for AC. I've tried a few other temperatures and Home/Siri seems to have no problem adjusting to 72 or 75, etc.

I know Siri is communicating with the thermostat because even though the temperature never gets adjusted, the thermostat changes from "Following schedule" to "Hold until 1PM" which it does if you ever adjust the thermostat from its normal schedule. I have three thermostats (1 per floor) and Home/Siri does the same for all three. A long time ago I thought I read of this problem and it had to do with the way Home calculates temperature between Fahrenheit and Celsius and some rounding. I use Fahrenheit. Could this be true?

Just here to say that I am having the SAME issue and have been since I started using the HomeKit. I can set heat/AC to any number besides 73. It’s SO bizarre.

There was a time it wouldn’t do 22.5 C for heat or AC. After a few software updates this was resolved. This could have been a firmware update that was pushed to the thermostat or HomePods (Hub) being updated. Or it was after I Upgraded to the new Home architecture Not sure if you’ve done this upgrade yet and if you haven’t and want to, you need to read what it says about not being able to use the Home App on older devices that are not able to update to the latest software and that iPads can no longer be used as Hubs. This upgrade is not the usual software updates, it’s an upgrade done in the Home App.

I’m on Celsius so I can’t test 73°f for you.

Make sure all software is updated to the latest. Whether this is an Apple TV or HomePod you are using for a Hub. Also whatever device you are using for Siri.

Your thermostat might be a heating range that’s been set preventing certain temps but being it allows you to go to 72 & 75 negates this theory.

Try not saying the words Fahrenheit, if it’s on Fahrenheit it knows this. It only needs a number.

Try asking Siri on other devices to see if it’s a HomePod you’re calling out to that can’t communicate.

if you still feel this is a bug then you need to let Apple know here: Feedback - Home App - Apple. This is the only way to let the engineers know about bugs they need to fix.

Some thermostats have an Eco setting that can mess with this. Mine activated this one day without my permission. The idea with this Eco setting is to conserve energy in extreme weather. If it’s too hot, it won’t let you turn the AC cooler and in extreme cold won’t let you crank the heat up. It communicates with your own country’s weather stations. If you’re a climate change enthusiast or frugal this might be desirable to use. I did not like it and after some googling I managed to deactivate it. We had a heatwave that was unprecedented at 45 C - hotter than Dubai and it knew this and would not let me lower the AC - super annoying!
