Upgrading memory on my Mac Pro 2019

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the memory on my Mac Pro 2019 but I'm not clued up on how this all works so was wondering if someone could help me?

I have checked my Mac and at the moment I have 48GB installed over 6 slots (8GB in each slot). I would like to add 2 x 64GB in to the memory slots but not sure how/where they need to be placed. I have uploaded images showing my machines spec and the current memory configuration, so can I just add the 2 x 64GB in the first two available slots or is there a specific way that this all needs to be done?

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Many thanks

Danny

Install and replace memory in your Mac Pro (2019) - Apple Support

Configured from Apple, Mac Pro models include the following DIMM types:

  • R-DIMMs for configurations up to 192GB (6x32GB).
  • LR-DIMMs for configurations of 384GB (6x64GB) or more.

All memory included with your Mac Pro is 2933MHz. Mac Pro models with 8 core processors operate memory at 2666MHz.

The memory setup involves your Mac re-arranging its internal address map to provide speedups by interleaving and 'pairing up' similar models when available.

You MUST follow their rules, or all your RAM will not show up. Apple does not explain the obscure details. You do not need to believe. You simply religiously follow the guide.

Thanks for this guide, I have already seen this but I'm still confused.

I don't understand why on the image I uploaded of my RAM slots why they are spaced out and not one after the other? Also, can I just add the larger RAM in the gaps in-between the existing RAM or do I need to reconfigure the entire layout?

Sorry if this seems a really obvious question.
