Hi Anne.
As we are not Apple mods, I can only go with experience in other forums.
In the world of "forumdom," a "sticky" is a thread that always appears at the top of a topic list regardless of when it was created. On forums I moderated in the past, I only used used stickies for announcements.
As creating or designating a sticky is usually a mod-only function, the wording of that preference in ASC suggests to me that it is an option to show stickies should the Mods create any.
I just engaged the option on mine, so will see if any of my views change.

Hi @SteelCityAnne.
In theory, that preference sounds like it’d allow you to toggle whether the initial question will be ‘sticky’ (and therefore appear at the top of) all pages of a thread. This would be analogous to the mechanism @AllanJones describes, but just applied at the thread level.
In practice, it appears that the feature is *stuck* on enabled. (hehe 🙃)

I have it checked as well , in February I had my five year anniversary in the forum and haven't noticed anything different . It doesn't matter now that I know it's for the moderators .
Thanks so much Allan ,

💯
Anne, I see no change in my views this morning so I guess I'll keep monitoring for evidence of stickies.
By the way, Happy 5th Anniversary! 🎂🍦(belated)
