DND not working in my iPhone

I'm a student and all my DND does is give me false hope that I will actually not be disturbed. Instead, it blocks JUST my contacts. Yeah, yeah, I know, make sure everything is on "allow none" for people, apps, etc. I've tried every single freaking tip there is on the internet. IT STILL DOES NOT WORK.

I can 100% PROMISE YOU that I have never "allowed" spam calls and texts, but turn on DND and they get the VIP treatment. Nobody I actually know can get through, just the calls and texts that I already have my phone set to block. I even have an additional app on my phone to block this crap (call filter).

I see this has been an issue people have had for 4 years. Any idea on when you might make this feature useful??

Here's the breakdown of the difference between Call Blocking and DND on an iPhone:

Call Blocking:

This feature specifically blocks calls and messages from certain phone numbers.
Blocked numbers won't be able to get through to you, and their calls will go straight to voicemail (by default).
You can block numbers from your recent calls list, phone app, or messages app.

Do Not Disturb (DND):

This mode silences notifications, including calls, messages, and alerts.
By default, DND won't block calls entirely.
However, you can configure DND to allow calls from specific groups like Favorites or Contacts.
DND offers more customization, like scheduling quiet hours or allowing repeated calls from the same number within a short timeframe.

Here's an analogy:

Think of Call Blocking as putting someone on a blacklist. They are completely blocked from contacting you.
Think of DND as setting your phone to "polite mode." It silences distractions, but you can still receive calls from important people if you choose.
