Yesterday evening I tried to reply to a response to a question I posted a few days ago. Not a long reply, just three paragraphs, no graphics, all text in English except a Sanskrit word in Devanagari script, and a Pali phrase in the Brahmi script (which is obscure, but all Macs these days have it in the Google Noto Fonts set). And a little common emoji. But I keep getting this message: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted."

I tried removing the Pali/Brahmi phrase, then the Sanskrit word, but it still didn't work. Then the emoji, but still no luck. I'm using Safari v.16.6.1 in macOS Big Sur 11.7.10.

I've searched here, found a couple others who've encountered the same problem, were advised to wait a while and try again. So I tried again just now: still doesn't work. What's the deal?

We are end users like you, not moderators, so we know no more about "the deal" than you. It's possible it's automatic and not due to moderator actions.

I had a similar experience in trying to post the link to Apple's Korean-language user forums. It appears that something in the Korean characters that the forum software "hreffed" triggered the automated Nagging Nanny that stops profanity. In English, Nanny simply replaces the offending words with asterisks (***). It is possible that foreign characters trigger the automated "cant post" response instead.

However, no one responding here can give you a definitive answer.

The mods' contact information is in the forum Use Agreement at least three times, so you can email them.

However, when I had the issue they were unable to find a cause. Ultimately I had to edit the link to the Korean forums to English to prevent the auto-href and get it to post:

Thanks for your response.

I did finally figure out on my own that the problem in my post was the material in Devanagari script; there was one other single character I didn't think to remove which continued to make it unpostable.

I did write to Apple Community Support ~24 hours ago, but there's been no response.

Meanwhile, our resident Multilinguist Tom Gewecke referred me to his note about the prohibition of Indic scripts (below). Funny that all the Brahmi-descended scripts (listed in Tom's note) are banned, but the Brahmi script itself is not. Maybe because the Brahmi doesn't include any complex conjunct characters? That's what makes Indic scripts difficult.

Could have saved me a lot of trouble and frustration if the red message had told me that.

PS: And now I'm told (in red): "Your post could not be saved. Please try again in a few moments." Maybe I've been signed out? Though the page still shows me as signed in. Log in again, try again.
