Apple Wallet says my credit card has the wrong expiry date

I had logged out of my Apple ID on my iPhone and all the cards in my Wallet were removed. I was trying to add them back to my wallet, and on one card only I keep getting stopped by a prompt indicating that the expiration date is incorrect. In fact, it is not.

I have tried removing and adding the card again, with the same result, several times.

I have each time entered the correct expiry date — which is in the future — in the MM/YYYY format, with no success.

From the threads I've seen, this issue has been experienced by numerous users. So far no-one has posted a solution. Please make suggestions. This is an important credit card because it charges no foreign transaction fees when I travel.

Thanks for your help.
