Cannot add cards to Apple Wallet - App displays Sandbox

I am having problems adding cards to my Apple Wallet. I thought it might be the banks, but I have tried a few different cards with no luck.

A strange behaviour I have is that my Apple Wallet app displays "Sandbox" next to "Wallet", also in the app settings. Does anybody have an idea why this might be? Or how I might be able to remove it?

I do not have a developer account on the phone or anything like that. I have previously used Sandbox functionalities as a developer but not on this account or device.

I am relatively new to iPhone as a personal device (but have done some development). Sorry if this is just normal behavior, but seems odd to me!

Technically I have one at work and one personal, but they are not related in any way other than they both belong to me. This phone has never been used for dev, and it has my personal account only.

I mentioned it really only to demonstrate that I understand what Sandbox is, but I think it just made my question more confusing in the end.

iPhone SE 3rd gen, iOS 18.0. (Updated yesterday, but I had tried before on 17, had hoped 18.0 might change something. I can't be 100% certain if it was showing Sandbox on 17, I only just noticed that part)

Can you confirm it's not normal behaviour to have "Sandbox" shown in the Wallet app? It's my first time using Apple Wallet on iPhone and I have no other iPhone accessibile so I don't have anything to compare it to. Thanks!

A developer account requires an Apple ID. Are you using the same Apple ID for both you developer account and personal account?

No I have no developer account on this phone, and I do not want one on this phone. I do not know why it is showing Sandbox. The Apple ID on this phone is my personal one.
