iPhone 16 Pro Max keyboard issues

iPhone 16 Pro for 1 week now. I can barely type this message. Had to retype every word, it's extremely annoying. I had an iPhone X until last week and the keyboard worked perfectly. It doesn't seem to be the software. The screen seems to be the problem.

Exactly what I’m seeing. I also had a 13 Pro Max before getting the 16 Pro Max. Typos like crazy and I know I typed correctly.

I had mine freeze in messages today and rebooted itself. I have never had that on any iPhone before. I also noticed the screen pull down from the top is a lot more difficult to pull down. I have the standard neoprene Apple brand case just like my old phone. Seriously disappointed with the upgrade so far.

I just got my iphone 16 pro max and i am having the same issue. The delay is so noticeable. It’s frustrating. I switched from 14 pro and it’s was very smooth and i had ios 17 there. I am gonna update to 18.1 and see now. It’s not the screen protector

I just called Apple support and the advisor said she was a senior advisor. She told me she was not aware of this issue with iPhone 16 pro max keyboard. I told her that the support community had many people with this problem. She told me that if I reset my iPhone it will probably fix this problem. She said if it doesn’t work call them back. It doesn’t fix the problem. Apple needs to get moving on fixing this issue. These phones are not cheap and therefore they should work as they were intended!

Just wait for a couple of days — which is frustrating I know — and it should all be alright again. I think partly why keyboard was lagging because of data transfer? Not really sure. I was extremely unhappy with the iPhone 16 pro max’s keyboard until one day when i upgraded to 18.1.1 that my phone got better. Then i realised the the transfer must have been complete by then.

it was weird but when it did get better, i just noticed it! And of course thankful that the keyboard is now working as expected. I was extremely frustrated about its performance until it was resolved all of a sudden.

also did some tweaks which you can find online, on YouTube. Like adjusting accessibility and all that.

I’m sure if you contact Apple support team, they will give you useful pieces of advice on how to go about it.

i wish you all the best. But i do understand the frustration that all of you must be feeling. It is temporary hopefully.

Same here, since Day One!

keyboard freezing and lagging, sort of a feeling that the phone cannot follow my typing speed. Did not got fixed afree all updates since January. Very disappointing and frustrating!

i have been told to reset to factory settings and start all over but I am afraid that this won’t fix the problem. Did anyone tried this? I am currently on IOS 18.4.1

I’ve been through 2 screen protectors. Employee at Best Buy claims it isn’t the protector but instead a software issue with the new iPhone/iOS 18.

I was just trying this setting (seeting-keyboard and typing-key repeat toggle on make it 0.10 and 0.20. Make it little better.

You are absolutely right, I believe if not millions but hundred thousands users reported this issue to apple for few months in a row and update after update but this issue remains

I am having a lot of the same issues. I had the iPhone 13 Pro Max before the iPhone 16 Pro Max and I was able to type/text flawlessly and very quickly without any errors to what I was typing (or auto-correct would fix minor mistakes) and now, I cannot type ANY message/text without errors and I know it is not because I have missed letters. It is not registering when I click on the letters and auto-correct is not working the same as well. This is very frustrating. I just turned off the beta hoping that would help and it is not.

I thought it was the cheap tempered glass screen protector I got from Amazon…so I bought an expensive ZAGG one, and the SAME issues.

I praying it’s a software issue apple can fix…and not a screen issue 🙏🏼

I’m having the same issue. In addition auto correct doesn’t work well. It doesn’t correct the simplest of words. The screen lag time is awful. I’m hoping they’ll have a fix soon!!! I’m super frustrated.

I'm also having the same issues for my Iphone 16 Pro Max. I thought it was because of the screen protector or something but upon knowing others are having same issues, I know now it's the phone itself.
