AirPods 4 ANC - low call volume on MS Teams on Windows 11

I have the exact same problem and hope @apple or @microsoft would fix this. It must be a easy software fix.

yes it's true improved the sound level but no mic on the airpods and the airpods 2 have more volume level then airpods 4 :( so sad

Yes, you can select the input device Labeled as Microphone Array …. This use actually your AirPods as Micron.

same issue with my huawei matebook x pro (win11).

all fine with media playback volume -- until starting voice call, 100% in zoom/teams sounds like 50%, no way to further increase the volume.

my airpods pro 2 and airpods 2 both work fine with the same pc. there's definitely something wrong with the gen4

Switching the microphone to a different input used to work, but as of late last week no longer works either.

I have tried everything I can possibly think of and have combed the web for every fix imaginable from restarts replacements and settings in device manager.

Really need to get this figured out for work, shocking it is such a known problem that won't get fixed.

Hi everybody, I just got my new Airpods 4 ANC, and immediately experienced the same issue with MS Teams. This is unacceptable. I tried all the suggestions and it simply doesn't help. I want to hear properly and I want others to hear me properly. I am not willing to compensate with microphone being switched to another device. Apple and Microsoft please fix this issue! This is an insult to us as your customers.

Same with streaming. Forget about using AirPods 4 on a flight, even with noise cancellation…..can barley hear anything…..if this is not fixed, they are going back….

Anyone seen anything anywhere from Apple on how to fix this, MsTeams and Zoom are a huge part of most business operations and this is a major problem.

I could not resolve my issue with any acceptable solution and ended up returning my AirPods.

I don't yet know if this is a permanent solution, but it did work for me after reboot. The device is still disabled. My AirPods 4 have ANC (if that matters). Before this fix, on my first connect I had volume in Slack (or Teams), but after testing the volume again, it would fail. Or if I tried to listen to a music app, like Spotify, I'd hear the music fine, but then Slack would have the low volume again, just like Teams. I was just able to open Spotify, hear the music, then go back to Slack and do a sound test, and I don't have the low volume problem. I'll continue trying to break it by switching apps, rebooting again, connecting and disconnecting, etc. but I'm hopeful. Thank you!

I did this and volume improved. Just the AirPods does not show up as a microphone now

Once you disable this were you able to use your AirPods 4 microphone I wasn't able to select it, it never even came up as an option?

I have the same issue on MS Teams and Zoom calls. i have only found an indirect workaround for now. The volume works fine when using a bluetooth transmitter. I happen to have one (Twelve South Airfly Duo Wireless) that I use when on flights. Works well to transmit to the Airpods.

Hoping Apple and Microsoft can work this out soon.

Same issue. Ive tried alot of suggestions and the call quality has improved during teams meetings sound but compared to the airpods 3, the sound during teams is really bad using windows 11 and the desktop app. Ive stopped using them because of it....

I'm glad, @dckbc. It turns out it didn't help me with Slack. I ended up buying some Galaxy Buds 3. They work great. I'll continue to use the AirPods 4 for my phone because the noise cancelling is amazing.
