I have the same issue. I have an old apple keyboard, purchased with my 2014 imac I believe.
It was connected to an M2 Mac mini, which I upgrade to sequoia 15.1. I typed the password on the keyboard to authorize the upgrade and kicked it off. Came back after a few hours to find a login screen with a keyboard that did not work.
Luckily I had a spare keyboard but this keyboard no longer works with the Mac. It still works fine with a windows machine.
I wonder if some drivers for very old keyboards were removed from the latest OS ? Is there a way to check ?
I have the same issue, You have to switch between apps then it responds. It has been happening all the time. I thought it was my network drive so moved work onto local disk but same issue.
SO to be clear. You are typing away and then let's say you switch to WhatsApp desktop to comment on something. You click into the chat textbox and type away but no characters are being displayed. If you click out into something else or swap chat then go back to the previous chat, it will start to work again until the next long pause in typing.
Happens on any app so far for me, Safari, Obsidian, WhatsApp and Logic Pro 11
Same. I upgraded to Sequoia from Ventura (had to because of Adobe Creative Cloud updates). Now, on every start, if I don't enter my password within a certain period of time, the Bluetooth connection window pops up asking me to pair my magic keyboard. Frustrating. Wasn't a problem before upgrade, hope this gets resolved.
Space not working normally means you need to turn Full Keyboard Access OFF in your Accessibility settings.

I had the same problem, delete keyboards other than the only one that you use under Settings/Keyboard/Text input/Input sources

What exactly is not “normal”? No output? Wrong characters? Please provide details
it's no output, it works sometimes and not sometimes, especially the "space" button

When I type, the first few letters don't come up. Auto spelling occasionally comes in and changes the word. Have to carefully read through all my text to ensure its what I wanted to say.
