iCloud Desktop disappears every other day

I've seen a few posts on this and no reasonable solution. For YEARS, I have used the iCloud desktop and synced with other devices with ZERO issues. All of a sudden in the last week or two my entire iCloud desktop disappears from my Mac. Not just not visible on the actual desktop, but there are no files in the finder window either.

Every other day i'm forced to restore from Time Machine. Why? This is absolutely ridiculous and no I don't want to uncheck to sync my files on iCloud and remove access to the files on other devices. That defeats the entire purpose of iCloud. Do you people actually hear the advice you're giving users? Fix this garbage.
