How do I connect my child's MacBook to parental controls?

My child got a Mac book (months ago) and the parental controls have never worked. I see her Mac book in the parental controls but the system always says “updating” and “as this device is used, screen time will show here” but nothing ever happens.

how can we connect the device to the parental controls if it’s not doing it automatically?

I’ll try to help you,LizFre.. I can’t post links ( house rules) but I’m not unable to help you.. you gotta have your child’s admin/login name+ password… go to Apple>system preferences> parental controls… maybe “create new user with parental controls” then Continue… type in admin name+ password… age pop up menu… choose Age… users name + password, then create User… you can also do restrictions on your web browser, FaceTime as well

hope this helps…

Yup ! 👍 you’re the parent, so unless you totally trust her choices ( and her ability to make them) … then you’re also the administrator as well… so Apple 🍎>system preferences> Users and groups.. log in as administrator… you can also pick what apps your child sees/can use… if you use YouTube, there are parental controls there, too… Facebook as well ( your child might not like me telling you this , but those controls are there for a reason… anyways, you can google how to set up Facebook appropriately… Safari ( browser) as well… Firefox and probably Chrome too( 2 other browsers)
