Severe hearing loss

After a hearing test with airpods pro 2 it says I have severe hearing loss. It does not make the hearing aid function accessible. But I can listen to podcasts just fine with airpods. Does that mean that airpods pro 2 cannot help me as a hearing aid in any way?

Of course I can use live listen, but the sound-delay and the need to have the iphone out is the reason I wanted the hearing aid function.

Apple Support's online article: Take a Hearing Test with AirPods Pro 2 - Apple Support

✽ explains steps to take to ensure your test is successful (eg: check the fit beforehand, quiet environment etc.)

✽ lists those things that can affect your test : (eg: recent illness, allergies and more)

✽ suggests you see your doctor if your test shows severe or profound hearing loss

Consulting a hearing-specialist may help determine what can, and can not help.

As Apple Apple users, like yourself, we are not qualified to advise on this new feature.

We would like to help however.

Apple support. has articles online that can help explain what features are available.

Eg: You can check which of the new features are available in your country or region.

Sorry. Am no expert on what you can or can not do with the new features. Also, not all countries have all features.

Many people were using AirPods to help with hearing before the hearing test and new features became available.

Eg: Audiogram data from health professionals has been used in iPhones before Apple's hearing test came along.

Thanks for the reply.

re. Also, not all countries have all features.

Right, but Hong Kong, where I am, does.

My hearing is variable. Later, when it was not so bad as on the first test, I redid it and now have access to the hearing aid functions. It is something of a help.

And some useful links there, thanks.
