How can I increase the limit for sound amplification on AirPods used as hearing aids?

I am trying to use AirPods as hearing aids but I am having trouble as I am on the edge of moderate hearing loss. I have turned sound amplification all the way up and still struggle to hear some things. Is there a way to increase the limits to sound amplification, so that I can hear the environment better?
