I stopped getting notifications on my Apple Watch for incoming WhatsApp messages. How can I be notified by Apple Watch when I get a WhatsApp message?

After I force restarted my iPhone and Apple Watch, the notifications for WhatsApp worked again.
To force restart your watch, press and hold the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.

And make sure that in the WatchApp/Notifications on your iPhone, WhatsApp is still enabled.

I get this all the time, I have had 3 Apple watches (currently v8) and all have been the same - WA messages come through then stop and dont start again unless i reset the watch, I am doing this every day it cant be right?
On another thread someone suggested WatchApp+ but this is a subscription app and surely Apple can sort this now - when i have spoke to the apple tech guys all they say is restart and that WA is not an apple supported messaging system. Samsung have it covered there has never been this with android so why cant Apple put a fix or a dedicated app for Whatsapp?
Has anyone used WatchApp+ ? is it any good because i am so fed up of switching this watch on and off i am at the point i will pay £30 for the app.

Notifications should work without upgrading WhatsApp to a payed version.
After the force restart my notifications for WhatsApp are still working on my watch.
Thanks, yes mine do work for a while after reset but then stop again. It seems to be if i am on the phone when a message comes in it interrupts the flow through to the watch.
I have been down this route previously but all they said was - Apple is nothing to do with them!
