whatsapp notifications won’t come through onto Apple Watch unless my phones connected to WiFi

Did you already try to force restart your iPhone and Apple Watch?
To force restart your watch, press and hold the Digital Crown and Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
Did you allow WhatsApp to use cellular data in Settings/Cellular on your iPhone?
Hi, yes I do, notifications come through on my phone and Apple CarPlay, just not my Apple Watch unless I’m connected to WiFi
Did you also enable Wi-Fi on your iPhone?
If you do not have the cellular Apple Watch, connecting to Wi-Fi is the only way that the watch can receive WhatsApp.
That’s all enabled, I’ve had the watch 2 years and not had a problem until the recent update
