Dictating text into documents no longer seems to work

I own iMac 3.4 Quad-Core i5 using Ventura 13.7.1, reently needing to replace the harddrive for a Macintosh_SSD. I am now unable to dictate text into documents (both Pages and purchased single copy of MS Office Home and Business 2021) despite all the internal microphone settings switched on as expected.
