Apple Watch charging issue; not charging fully

I’ve got an Apple Watch that is a little over a year old but has recently developed charging issues. Some nights I put it on to charge and it starts to do so but when I get up in the morning it has stopped within a few minutes. Other nights it charges completely. Has anyone had this issue or can offer any advice please.
