You need to sign into your Apple account for AirDrop to word effectively. As for data transfer problems with your Samsung phone, contact Samsung for support. Maybe you'll find them more helpful than you did Apple support.

SHOUTING also does not help. Since you bought the Mac new, I recommend calling Apple Support and open a case number with them. We are just end users here with Apple moderation.

Samsung is not made by Apple. Neither is the phone's Samsung Bluetooth software. They may have a different standard that needs to be updated to be more current with Apple's OS. This is where third party software can be useful as it can set its own firewalls etc to manage data transfer with older devices. Apple's OS assumes the last 3 years of security and nothing older. To its advantage it is less prone to people poking holes and introducing viruses. Now you can if you want network your older Mac with your newer Mac and share information between the two of them. But if you want to leading edge in Apple software you will have to take the obsolescence of older software that introduces. For instance no Mac newer than Catalina's release in Octobner 7, 2019 will run 32 bit Mac OS software.

If Apple's directions for using Airdrop appear useless, it may be because of how Samsung handles Bluetooth communication different from iPhone.

Do a better job than those built-in by Apple to communicate with Samsung phones. I don't have one.

Can you at least try a different software for data transfer?

It is possible too many paired Bluetooth devices could cause a problem for the newer Mac. It is worth trying the transfer via USB instead of Bluetooth. USB is more reliable anyway.
