Itunes changing podcast playlist order when syncing to iPod

I will create a playlist of different podcasts and set the order I wanted to listed to them. This may mean that I will listed to a more recent podcast before listing to a older different podcast. This used to work fine but now when I sync my iPod the order is reversed or just scambled on the iPod and is different from the created playlist. How can I sync my Ipod to the order I created in the playlist. This started happening about 3 months ago but worked fine before then.
