Suddenly getting "Connection Failed" when connecting two macs on home network

I am suddenly no longer able to connect from my desktop to laptop or vice versa when on my home network. I can see the device in the finder, but I get "Connection Failed" if I try to view, 'connect as', or screenshare. (ChronoSync is also not able to sync across the devices any more.)

I can see both devices in "Find My" from my phone, and send "play sound" successfully.

I'm using Sonoma on each device, and both devices are up to date. Have not manually changed settings, Firewall looks to be as it always has been, and yes I've restarted each device several times. 😀

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.7
