13 ProMax Issues iOS18

I keep seeing people say that their 13 ProMax started having issues after the 18 update.

I have tried every tip or trick I have seen online and my app’s still won’t work unless it’s connected to wifi, or isn’t able to run on previous data. I have repeatedly checked my settings and cellular data settings, but they are all where they should be. Hard reset, turned off turned back on… tried everything I have seen.

If I am watching the morning news or another program through Safari it glitches and then freezes and stops working, even when on WiFi. If I’m out and about and want to order from a different location the phone won’t recognize my location and find food near me. I also can’t send or receive photos, websites, gifs, anything other than standard text without being on a wifi.

Are there any other solutions? Thank you.

I’m glad to hear no VPN usage. But do you even have it installed, even if you don’t use it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile, and look to see if one is there.

Open Settings
- Tap General
- Tap Transfer or Reset Phone
- Tap Reset
- Tap Reset Network Settings

- This will erase all Wi-Fi passwords, but will not result in any other data loss.

After that, contact your carrier, as cellular data is entirely a carrier function.

To try and explain it simpler- I cannot use any app on cellular data even though my phone and every app is set up to use cellular data. Amazon, Facebook, Pinterest, Google Maps, Instagram, Twitter, food apps, Safari, Pandora, Spotify… etc. When I try to connect to CarPlay Pandora can’t load channels. I get error messages for everything. I can’t send or receive any photos or utilize any MMS. It’s all SMS- basic text only even though everything is set for it to be fully usable. This all only happened after I updated to iOS18.

What I can do- is order from my local Chick-FIL-A, for example, because that data is stored in my history, but if I am on another side of town my app will process nothing geographically even if I am sitting in the parking lot out front. It will not recognize any location, until I connect to that specific locations WiFi. Even with cellular data on and running.

I’m trying to boil your post down to a few sentences. Is the issue you have no cellular connection?

If not I don’t understand what challenges you’re experiencing.

Well, as a start, restart your phone.

If you use VPN, don’t. And delete the VPN profile.

For location accuracy you MUST leave Wi-Fi on all the time, even when not connected to a router or hotspot.

I already did. Multiple times. Even did a hard reset. No VPN usage. Cell data has never been turned off, but phone and apps will not work on cellular data alone since update to 18.

I have reset this a few times and it has not helped. :/ I will reach out to my carrier and see what they say. Thank you for your help.
