How do I remove an update to Apple Watch that will not install?

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Tap General > Storage.Delete the update file.
Apologies. I should have informed you the update is to the watch iOS. The app is stuck verifying and I can’t see how to stop the verification or update attempt. Any suggestions?
