Playing Music on Apple Watch Ultra with AirPods

I have downloaded my music playlists to my Apple Watch Ultra. I have both AirPods Pros and Air Pods. They both connect to the Apple Watch Ultra with Bluetooth. I have no problems playing my music to the AirPods Pro. However, when the AirPods are connected it will not play the music. I hit play and it tries to play then reverts to the Play arrow. When I have been able to get it to play, it will only play through the left ear. Apple Support told me to buy new AirPods. Not much help
