IPAD M2 13" hangs on restore and Itunes exits.

Brand new M2 Ipad Air hung on update to IOS18 - Tried to do update but no joy. Rebooted to restore screen and tried to finish update - again no joy, just Hung. Tried to reset and it starts with the apple logo and then appears to just hang once again. Been waiting a long time but alas no joy again. I just want to get my wife's stuff transferred over(gotta backup/restore) from an IOS12 Ipad pro in time for Christmas.

I am humbled by the great and powerful OZ.
