Why does Apple Music change storage to device automatically?

I like use my SD card for storage for Apple music, but for some reason it keeps changing it to the device storage, is there any reason this happens and any way of stopping it? I currently have an HTC U24, but this issue has occured on my Google pixel 5, Honor 8, Xiaomi and other android phones I have run the app on.
