iTunes “authorise this computer” no longer working

I use iTunes (on Windows 11) to store my iTunes library, and synchronise subsets to my iPod, iPhone and iPad. This setup has worked OK for years.

Today, I am getting warnings that my computer is no longer authorised and, despite following the advice to (re) authorise via the iTunes “account” menu, the error message keeps repeating. I am not above the five devices limit. Even deauthorise/reauthorise doesn’t seem to work.

Has something changed? Any suggestions for resolution?

Thanks

I suspect you are only seeing this issue with downloaded purchased songs. There seems to be an occasional issue where these are either corrupted or not decrypted properly after download. Reauthorizing the computer doesn't help. Right-click a song with this issue in your library and click remove download, or delete it if that option isn't offered. If asked to hide the track from your purchase history say no. If the item remains in the library click the cloud symbol to download it, if it disappeared close iTunes and reopen and it should show with the cloud link that allows a redownload. If the problem persists use the https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ site to request help.
