Unable to Sync iPhone Xr with Apple Devices on Windows 11
I have a PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-Bit... I have been running iTunes on this PC absolutely perfectly, but of course I've now been forced to use Music/TV/Devices, which doesn't work. The software versions of the relevant technology I am using are as follows:-
Windows 11 Pro/64-Bit - "You're up to date" - checked today, 5 minutes before this post...
iPhone Xr - iOS 18.2 (22C152) - updated an hour before this post
Apple Devices 1.5.2.58 (1.1282.14849.0) [Auto Update Checks enabled]
- Apple Mobile Device 1759.40.2.0.0 (18.0.0.33)
- Apple Mobile Device Driver 538.0.0.0
In order for the iOS update to work, my Xr removed a lot of my Music content from the handset [this is only a 128Gb model] and I want to restore it.
This is what happens:-
- Launch Apple Devices - get a screen which says, "Connect an Apple device to get started."
- Plug in my phone via the USB-Lightning cable
- See the Apple Devices screen clear and be replaced with, "Trust {my phone ID}?" and "To sync this computer with your iPhone, click Trust, then tap Trust on the device."
There's a button below this text with "Trust" as the label... but when I click it, the word "Trust" shifts from black to gray for maybe 1/4 of a second before returning to black... and nothing works. If I try and carefully synchronize the tap on the PC mouse with that on the iPhone, so the iPhone Trust happens when the PC Trust is gray, nothing happens.
Everything looks correct. There are no error messages.
I can't get this to work.
And once again, a piece of Apple software that was working - iTunes - has been screwed up and replaced with something that doesn't work.
I'd be very grateful if anyone can offer me suggestions on how to fix this, before I head out to a store to buy a Galaxy S24 and be done with this garbage once and for all.
Thanks in advance.
