Can I use a Lightning cable with my Beats Pill?

Can I use a lightning-to-USB-C cable to listen to music from my iPhone or iPad on my Beats Pill? It doesn’t seem to work. Does cable listening only work using a USB-C to USB-C cable? If so, is there any way to do cable listening from my iPhone or iPad?

The Beats Pill supports wired audio input using a 3.5mm AUX cable, not through its USB-C port. The USB-C port on the Beats Pill is primarily for charging and firmware updates, not for audio input.

Regardless, Lightning-to-USB-C cables are designed for charging and data transfer, not for transmitting analog or digital audio signals to devices.

As far as using a USB-C to USB-C cable, again the Beats Pill does not support audio input through its USB-C port.

So did I misunderstand what apple support says about the Beats Pill and USB-C audio:

Listen with USB-C audio

You can connect your Beats Pill and another USB-C device, such as an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, with a USB-C to USB-C cable to listen to music, including lossless audio.

To listen to audio on Beats Pill with a USB-C wired connection, hold the power button while plugging in your Beats Pill to another USB-C source.
