AirPods won’t work unless inside case

Ok, so yes, I’ve reset my AirPods and they connect to my AirPods but only when they’re inside the case. When I take them out, they disconnect and I cannot reconnect them. I’ve also went into Control Center and put the audio into the AirPods, and again, they only play audio and connect when inside the case and disconnect otherwise. I have forgotten the device through BlueTooth many times, and reset my AirPods and reconnected, but it still refuses to work. Another detail to take into account is that it also says “Coverage Expired”, but that shouldn’t have to do anything with connecting them outside the case, right?
