Open Numbers file to specific sheet and row based on today's date

Hello,

I have a very long shared Numbers file, with the data input sheet that has (multiple of the same) dates in column A (from 2019 to 2027 for now). As the column is very big (some 5000 rows so far), I have to scroll down to today's date every time I open the file and it is not fun. I am looking for a trick to make sure I always open the file to the first sheet and to the first row with today's date. Is there a way to do it?

Thanks for your ideas.

There's no way to change the way that Numbers opens files, or to direct it to highlight a particular cell when it opens.

Depending on your layout, the best I can think of is Command-Down Arrow, which will jump the screen to the last active cell in the current column. You're still responsible for highlighting the desired sheet and table, though.

If Command-Down Arrow isn't sufficient, then maybe an AppleScript could make a semi-intelligent search, but you'd have to initiate this from outside Numbers (e.g. run the script that launches Numbers, opens your document, and scrolls to the desired cell). That may or may not be sufficient.

Yes, you can set a filter to show only the dates from today onward, thus automatically taking you to today, like this:

You can set it up on the Mac (under Organize) and Numbers for iOS will recognize the filter.

Or you can set it up in iOS directly. The filter symbol is to the right of the format "paintbrush". In iOS it looks like this.

Whenever you need to see older rows, just turn off the filter switch.
