Why Free 3 month apple music canceled before end date

That is how it works and is detailed here in the terms of the promotion:

Upon claiming the offer, you agree to a $10.99/month subscription that starts

immediately after the free offer period and automatically renews until cancelled.

You can cancel at any time in Settings at least one day before each renewal

date. If you cancel during your free offer period, you will immediately lose access

to Apple Music and the remainder of your free trial. You can’t reactivate this trial.

Free trial subscriptions are cancelled immediately, rather than at the end of the period like paid subscriptions, so you will need to remember to cancel the trial around 2 days before it ends (they won't let you cancel within 1 day of renewal). This is clearly stated on the cancellation screen.
