Wired Headphones and Mic Disconnecting

I recently bought a pair of Turtle Beach Recon headphones to use a microphone while I play online games on my iPhone XR and connect them using the dongle Lightning Adapter. The headphones and mic work fine for a few minutes each time then I'm hit with a "Accesory Not Supported" popup and I have to unplug and plug my headphones back in several times. I'm using an Apple brand dongle and have tried a different brand as well to recieve the same issue. My IOS has been updated, I've reset the phone, and I've tried dragging a q tip through the charging port to no success. Help!
