Why do my Beats Solo 3 headphones only work when charging?

My beats solo 3 volume button and pause/play button isn’t working and I have updated them and reset them and I also have disconnected and reconnected them to my phone, but it’s still not working and also sometimes they will not cut on without being on the charger or turning off without being on the charger or they just won’t turn off at all what should I do?
