Recently added songs to iTunes not showing up in Recently Added playlist

I recently added songs to my desktop's iTunes library (the only library I have). However, the recently added songs are not showing up in the Recently Added playlist (the one between the My Top Rated and Recently Played playlists). The recently added songs can be found in Songs/All Songs (sorted by most recently added), but I don't want to have to take that extra step to see what I've just added. I have 120,000 songs in my library and have never had this issue until the last couple of days.

Is this just an update glitch? Is there any way to solve this?

Try holding down ctrl+shift as you launch iTunes. This opens the app in its safe mode, and potentially does some internal housekeeping, validating indices etc.

What build of iTunes are you running? Recent versions include a Recently Added view, rather than a playlist, which should show your entire library with the most recently added content first, in a manor that also groups albums together properly in track order. If you don't see it hover to the right of the word Library in the side bar and tap Edit when it appears, tick the box against Recently Added, then tap Done.

Thank you for your response! I saw the new Recently Added view (above Artists) under the word Library at the top left, but I was not a fan of the jumbled view that showed albums, etc. I wanted a list view just like the smart playlist Recently Added shows when you select View As - Songs. Somehow I noticed the blue link that says Edit Rules when viewing the Recently Added smart playlist, so I clicked on it. It turns out I had set 1/2/25 as the end date of the range to show recently added songs to the playlist, so I changed the end date to a much later date (several years from now) and the problem is resolved! Thanks again for taking the time to respond and helping me think through this.

That explains it. I suspect you don't need the end date entry in the ruleset at all.
