Red "X' next to files and PDF documents in my iCloud email

What does it mean when there is a red "X" next to a file or PDF file in my iCloud email proram.

iCloud email attachments disappear and are being replace with placeholders on Mac, iPhone and iPad Pro. I've been having an ongoing problem with attachments disappearing in iCloud email. When I first open an email, the normal icons are present for attachments and they open. However, when I go back to look at the attachments they're gone and replaced with placeholders that look like this: <2022 Fact Sheet 3-22.pdf> <2022 Suites Floor Plans 3-22.pdf> <TC-LOM Golf Flyer.pdf> <Dodgers Spring Training Room Block_February 2024.pdf> This is very frustrating. It's happens across all of my devices: Mac, iPhone 14 and iPad Pro. Hopefully someone has a solution. It also happens with my "sent" emails. Thanks! David Lambkin

ICloud mail on iPad When I first open Mail, there are numerous “windows” in a row across the bottom that are like screenshots of the inbox in prior instances. How do I remove these? Wish there were a way to attach a screenshot here.
