Can I play different music on HomePods with one Apple ID?

I currently have multiple homepod minis. Is it possible to play different music on seperate devices, at the same time? So I could listen to music on my phone while my son listens to different music on his HomePod in his room. All devices are signed in under my Apple ID (my son is young).

Would a family plan help with this, or are multiple Apple ID’s required?
