Blu-ray/DVD player and ripper to use in imac?

I have an 2024 iMac. got it in December.

I have blu-rays and dvds (4K, several regions). Most of them are shows and films that are not available on streaming.

I want to play my blu-ray and dvd discs on my computer because I do not have a television. 

Ideally, I would also like the ability to rip the dvds and Blu-ray Discs into digital format onto an external hard drive so I can play them without having to pull out the discs. 

I bought Verbatim 43888 but it did not come with software to do this, and they have been incredibly unhelpful trying to figure out what to do. 

Please, can someone walk me through this? If there is a player/ripper that comes with software compatible with Mac, I would happily purchase this and return the Verbatim ripper/player I have. I am UK based if this information if necessary.

If there is not a player/ripper with Mac software, can someone please tell me which software I should get? software ideally free or affordable. and whether it's would be better to get a different blu-ray/dvd player and return the Verbatim 43888.

I am not tech minded, so guides that are broken down and as simple as can be would be ideal. (Cap'n Dummy speak)
