Unable to save, share or copy an audio file from phone call recording in Notes

Sharing an audio file (from a phone call recording) in Notes from my iPhone or iPad does not appear to work. There are options to save the audio file to “Files” or to share the audio file to an app or device or to copy the audio file. However, after multiple attempts at all of these methods to save, share or a copy the audio file from a phone call recording in Notes, none of the my attempts have succeeded. It does show that it is “processing” the audio file, preparing it to share or save, but after that nothing happens, there is no result - I cannot locate any saved or shared audio file.

Please see the pics below which are self-explanatory to save Call Recordings from the Notes App to the Files App (Pic 1) or Share them with many options (Pic 2).

Pic 1: - Notes App to the Files App, on any Cloud Drives (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Flickr, box, AmazonDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud etc) Then please log into them before you can access those files on Files App.

Thank you for your reply and graphic guide.  However, it doesn’t solve the issue as I am already familiar with those functions and know how to perform them. The issue is described in my last sentence “It does show that it is “processing” the audio file, preparing it to share or save, but after that nothing happens, there is no result - I cannot locate any saved or shared audio file.”

Your reply did give me a clue though as to what is happening as in your example you are using a very brief, six second phone call recording (very small audio file) which does seem to work for you. I have been encountering this difficulty with much longer phone call recordings, such as 45 to 60 minutes long and therefore larger audio files. As I said, all it says for these larger audio files is “Preparing” with a progress circle…and then nothing - no saved or shared or copied audio file at all. See screenshots below showing the problem involving a 44 minute call recording which after “Preparing” cannot be saved, shared or copied.

So I tested this again but with shorter phone call recordings (smaller audio files) and it does work. e.g. A 9 minute call recording.

What I have discovered is that these functions do work with short phone call recordings of up to around 20 minutes or so (relatively small audio files), but do not work with longer phone call recordings (larger audio files) such as 45-60 minutes. If you try it on call recordings of this length (45-60 minutes or longer) you will probably encounter the same problem. I suspect the problem may begin at call recordings even a little over 30 minutes but I don’t currently have any less than 40 minutes but over 30 minutes to test.

This makes some sense as it is similar to the transcription issue I identified in October 2024 and which is still unsolved, even with the latest updates....

No transcription available for some phone call recordings and will not complete transcribing

That is, automatic transcription does not work for relatively longer call recordings - about 45- 60 minutes or longer. Even manually initiating transcription for these longer recordings does not work.

In summary the problem seems to arise from relatively larger audio files (associated with call recordings of 45-60 minutes or longer)  - they cannot be transcribed and cannot be saved, shared or copied.
