Photos missing from 'People & Pets' album after syncing with iPhone 14 Pro Max

Can anyone help? Since syncing and updating all my photos from iTunes to my iPhone 14 Pro Max the people & pets function isn’t showing all the photos of named people. When you go onto ‘review photos ‘ of a person they all appear with a blue tick on screen but when you press ‘done’ they can’t be seen.

’scanning’ appears briefly but disappears.

Any ideas?
