What is 'Other Users and Shared' on my MacBook Pro?

I have recently noticed that something called ´´other users and shared´´have been taking most of my storage on my MacBook Pro. I have found the folder and deleted all of its contents but it still shows that it takes up 37GB even though I have deleted everything in it. Help?
