CarPlay not working since iOs 18.3

BMW 7 2017 year. Can play stopped working since iOs 18.2.2. IPhone 15pro

Hoped issue to be fixed with 18.3 but still “Connection cannot be established”.

All steps advised were done. Issue is still there.

Steps performed:

  1. Reset iPhone after update
  2. Reset car entertainment set
  3. Car deleted from Bluetooth connections.
  4. New device added with CarPlay option
  5. Connection cannot be established.

Phone was connected after with only Bluetooth connection without issues and is working properly.

Until iOs 18.2.1 CarPlay was working without issues.

Please advice for solution.

CarPlay worked seemlessly on my 2024 Kia. It now does not now that I’m on 18.3

if they don’t fix this, I might be forced to switch to Android if I want to continue to have navigation functionality while driving.

please fix!!!

Makes me glad I drive a pristine 2011 Saab 9-5 (10,700 miles) that does not have CarPlay support.

Apple provides the tools for auto manufacturers to stay current with CarPlay implementations in their vehicles. BMW may not be motivated to do this for an 8-year-old vehicle. Whether there is something about your 2017 X7 implementation due to its age and CarPlay compatibility may be better answered by the BMW Regional factory service rep than by your service department. You might escalate this issue with BMW.

Apple, being the enigma it is, could have changed something in CarPlay in iOS 18.3 that has caused your issues too. See what your local Apple Store manager has to say and if Apple Support can escalate this to the CarPlay team.

Hi, so I’ve managed to get mine to work wirelessly and with a wire. I didn’t have a VpN as others have mentioned but I reset my network settings on my iPhone and turned my roaming data on(no idea why it was off) Not sure which worked but it’s now working :) good luck

Thank you so much your response literally fixed my issue. I was freaking out because I have a long road trip tomorrow and I don’t know how to get there and I need my CarPlay to look at my GPS because in California you can get a ticket for holding your phone so thank you so much

I had the Car Play connection problem to my GLC MB with IP15PMX. It was connecting and appear a while than vanishing. It took my days. I reset/delete my phone many times.

Eventually made the phone factory settings but did not download from Icloud.

I have download entire files to my pc in the phone and transferred the WP an other phone than redownloaded.

Than CarPlay started to worked well.

But....

As soon as make an upgrade to 18.3.1 😩😩 came back to beginning.

A setting in the phone makes this trouble but what???

Has anyone had any luck? I just leased a new Altima 2024 SR and I can’t connect to carPlay. When connecting via wire the car recognizes the phone but the phone cannot recognize the carplay. The carplay connection appears for 1/2 a second then disappears from phone.

I've had this problem with my BMW now and then whenever Apple upgrades. Try This: I have learned that I've had to delete my device from my BMW, reset the network settings on my iPhone and reconnect, and then it works. Apple upgrades are getting more glitchy. A lot goes down apart from Car Play.

Hi to all

since 6 months i was working on and found my problem where is. I have MB GLC180 and my one phone was not connecting via car play and the other did not work also as soon as the ios update was done.

after all steps were done by apple instructed nothing changed.

once i noticed my 2 phones do not connect to the same car and my friends are good; i have suspected on my icloud account. Copied all in the phone to a pc than deleted icloud account and here it is!!! Connected… to test again i entered my i cloud account again to the phone and seen again did not work.

this time i have generated another amd new i cloud account and tested with it. Again!!! Working….

finally the stupid time loss to solve this matter is over.

cheers,
