How to display name day of the week in every cell in one column in iOS Numbers (sun, mon, etc)

I know how to get the named day of the week to display, by referencing another cell with the full date already entered.

i.e., A1 is CellDateNameOnly

B1 is CellFullDate

A1=dayname(B1)

but short of doing fill down over and over in column A, how do I get every subsequent cell in

column A to have that formula, reflecting the changed CellFullDate in column B as we move down in rows?

thx in advance any advice.

iPhone SE, iOS 18

I'm not sure I understand your question.

That's precisely what Fill Down is there for - to fill a column of cells with a consistent formula.

It's also only two clicks (either select column A header and use Table -> Autofill -> Autofill Down, or select cell A1 and drag the handle at the bottom of the cell down to the bottom of the table.

What am I missing here? Maybe I'm not understanding why you think you need to do this 'over and over'...?

Re “either select column A header and use Table -> Autofill -> Autofill Down,”

what tool are you using in iOS Numbers to get those actions? When I select the header cell, (or the entire column or the cell with the formula) and tap paintbrush/Format and then go to Table, I don’t see those actions available to me.

thx any further info.

PS - yes I know o can do the drag autofill to the bottom of the column, but would prefer fully automatic. )
